To save lives in her local community, Dr. Deborah McMahan, Allen County Health Commissioner, is battling the opiod crisis on as many fronts as possible.
Here are just a few of her recent accomplishments:
- She rallied a task force in her community made up of treatment professionals, law enforcement, advocates, clinicians, judges, and educators that look at creative ways to address addiction.
- She’s been involved in the Attorney General’s Drug Task Force which created chronic pain guidelines for prescribers and provided education to clinicians all around the state on proper prescribing.
- She was also instrumental in developing the First Do No Harm Toolkit, which is a resource manual for prescribers to treat chronic pain using opioid alternatives.
- She’s created several PBS shows on the dangers of opioids and other drugs.
